Why the browser asks first
Sendshot takes a real pixel screenshot of the page, exactly as the person sees it. Browsers only allow that through their screen-sharing prompt, so the first time someone takes a screenshot, the browser asks what to share.
Pick This tab (Chrome, Edge) or the current window (Firefox, Safari) and allow it. The screenshot is taken once and sharing stops right after.
People can take a screenshot of the full page or drag to select just one area, then draw on it before sending.
If a screenshot fails
- Cancelled or blocked: the person can try again, or send the report without a screenshot. The console logs, network requests and steps are still attached.
- Firefox: check the permissions icon in the address bar and allow screen sharing for the site.
- Safari: open Safari → Settings → Websites → Screen Sharing and allow the site.
- Chrome and Edge: click the icon left of the address bar and allow screen sharing.
The widget shows these steps itself when something goes wrong.

Password and payment fields are masked before the screenshot, and you can mask anything else with data-sendshot-mask. See privacy and masking.
